Sister Christine Gilliard is a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She has always been actively involved in some aspect of the Christian Church. At an early age,   she      was baptized by Rev. Roosevelt Watty. Her love for gospel music, teaching, and     children would prove invaluable to her ministry and the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in later years.

After spending some time worshiping with the Christ Temple Church, God directed     her path to join the New Friendship Baptist Church where she met her husband.        She remained at New Friendship until 1989 when her husband was called to pastor    Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Sister “Chris” as she is affectionately called is actively involved in the work of the  Lord. Her ministry includes Bible Study teacher, choir director, youth mentor  and counselor, new member development, homework assistance, and much, much   more.  She has also held numerous positions in the Maryland Baptist Convention  and with various Ministers’ Wives organizations. She is recognized across the country    as one of the nation’s most outstanding and respected pastor’s wives.

She currently holds four (4) academic degrees. Associate of Arts (Mental Health); Associate of Arts (General Education); Bachelor of Science (Psychology), and  her Masters (Education). She has recently completed her requirements for  her   certificate in Early Childhood Education.

Christine is married to the Reverend Leroy Gilliard, Jr. They have one son, Dan’te, and one granddaughter, Donya. Christine loves her family, her church and her friends. But above all, she loves her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She firmly believes that God Specializes in things impossible!
